Welcome to Lucy's El Adobe Cafe, a cherished gem tucked on Melrose Avenue in the heart of Los Angeles, CA. This Mexican restaurant is not just a dining spot; it’s a storied establishment that has stood the test of time, serving delectable Mexican cuisine since the 1960s. The moment you step inside, you’ll be enveloped by the welcoming embrace of traditional décor and friendly staff that feel more like family than just servers.

Lucy's El Adobe Cafe specializes in authentic Mexican fare that will ignite your taste buds with vibrant flavors and homemade goodness. As echoed by loyal patrons, the tacos here are simply unrivaled, characterized by their fresh ingredients and savory fillings. The meal begins with a comforting cup of lentil soup—a delightful warm-up that sets the tone for the experience ahead. Guests rave about the house dressing, often likening it to “butter”—a creamy addition that elevates the refreshing iceberg lettuce and tomato salad to an extraordinary delight.

For those craving a spirited evening, the margaritas at Lucy's are nothing short of legendary, with their perfectly balanced mix that complements any meal. You might find yourself captivated by the nostalgic atmosphere, where time seems to stand still, allowing you to savor each bite and sip while surrounded by whispers of Hollywood’s past. The café is conveniently located across from Paramount Studios, making it a favorite hideaway for celebrities and locals alike seeking an intimate dining experience.

As one customer, David 'Dutch' Schultz, beautifully expressed, "an amazing Hollywood establishment that has not changed since the 60s." The consistency in service, highlighted by long-time servers, like the intriguing Edwin, assures you that you are in good hands. However, due to the pandemic, Lucy’s temporarily closed its doors in recent years, and many patrons, including Richard Alston, are eagerly awaiting its grand reopening.

In conclusion, Lucy's El Adobe Cafe is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience steeped in tradition. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a first-time visitor, expect to leave with your heart full and your palate delighted. Make it a must-visit on your next culinary adventure—your taste journey through authentic Mexican flavors awaits!

I go to this place almost every week. They have wonderful servers that have been there for decades that you will love to meet! There is a new blonde server there, she is beautiful and she works in the bar. All around great service, clean, and THE BEST Tacos, and House Dressing in town!

We went because this is where Linda Rondstat and Governor Jerry Brown met. Very authentic old school Mexican food. Spicy hot sauce and good food, friendly service. Liked it a lot. 2022 and 2023 update: it closed during the pandemic and has not re-opened.

An amazing Hollywood establishment that has not changed since the 60s. Hosted by an incredible waiter by the name of Edwin we enjoyed the evening with the best margaritas in town and excellent Mexican cuisine. Nestled right on the corner of Melrose avenue right across the street from Paramount studios, you could almost pass this place if you weren't paying attention but do make the effort if you have not been. It's a wonderful dining experience, fast and friendly service with ambiance and Hollywood history all wrapped into one.

I can't wait until Lucy reopens. The food is traditional Mexican, simple, and very well done. Every meal starts with a cup of good lentil soup, followed by a simple yet delicious iceberg lettuce and tomato salad that has a dressing that tastes like butter. It's fantastic! Then, whether one orders enchiladas or tacos every meal is excellent

This place has been there for years, has a placque from the city of Los Angeles in appreciation, and serves the best salad dressing I've ever tasted. The food is delicious, although a bit pricey, I make it a definite stop on my list whenever I'm in the area.

I really like this place. It's a pretty large restaurant and there is always a spot to go for a quiet meal. The food is standard Mexican American fare. There are a two outdoor areas to have a meal or a drink. The restaurant is a popular celebrity hideout. It's located near a few Studios on Melrose and is almost always quiet. A newspaper article framed on the wall describes the atmosphere perfectly "where the elite meet discreetly."
